Tico Tales - "The Dreams" (March 3-5)
Occasional Tales from our Life in Costa Rica
In honor of Amy's 35th birthday we headed off for a weekend of fun at the beach. It was blazing hot, even in the pool. And even though we weren't exactly roughin' it at the Los Suenos Resort in Playa Herradura, it felt like a world away from the hustle and bustle of San Jose. Amazingly, the Pacific coast is less than 60 miles from the Central Valley where we live, but it takes over two hours to get to the beach because of the Ramona-like twisty, two-lane roads.

Nice view

Sophie's water wings and baby boat were a hit

Kickin' it poolside

Not just the human guests enoy the pool...check out this iguana relaxing by the water!

A couple miles down the road from our hotel is the Central Pacific town of Jaco and a little further is the black-sand Playa Hermosa

Happy Birthday, "Emy"?!?! Alright, so "Amy" is not exactly a common name in Spanish!

One of the highlights of the drive was the infamous bridge over the crocodile infested Tarcoles River. Amy took this photo from the top of the bridge...those aren't logs in the water! Drive carefully around here.
