Tbilisi Tales - Snapshots From Georgia
Occassional tales from our life in the Republic of Georgia
Since some of our family and friends have expressed curiosity about Georgia and our life here, we decided to share these photos. We wish we had more, but as we went through our pictures we discovered that (surprise!) we mostly just take a lot of pictures of Sophie.

A nice view of "old" Tbilisi. You can tell from the color of the trees that the photo was taken in fall.

Our house. We have a yard with grass!

A view of our neighborhood

The Western-style supermarket so beloved by American expatriates. We used to think it was funny that it's called Goodwill. But now we're used to it. We find ourselves commenting to people we barely know, "That's a nice tablecloth, did you get it at Goodwill?"

The building where Jason works

This is a new church, built in the last ten years, but its architecture is typical of Georgian churches for the last 1,000 years.

Here's a Georgian bride. Georgians do not reserve churches for weddings, so it's quite common to visit a church while a wedding is taking place, and for several couples to be married at once.

What a great idea, to post pictures that we've all been so curious about. I don't know why it never ocurred to me that we could see all of the places that you talk about. Your house looks very inviting and i hope that you'll take another picture when all of your flowers come up. Now we can "picture" you at home and work much better.
Love you all,
The Husbands

Thanks for showing us Georgia! As you said we have been very curious to see where you are living. Is your house the whole building or just part of what we see?
