World Cup 2006 - Hanover, Germany (June 12)

We're back online after our vacation, which included a stop at the World Cup! On June 12th we were in Hanover, Germany to watch Italy play their opening game against Ghana, a good team participating in their first-ever World Cup. Happily, Italy won 2-0. It was an exciting game with lots of good chances for both sides. Sophie was terrified by the roar of the crowd after Italy's first goal, but then she ate a giant pretzel and all was well. We had fun seeing the supporters dressed up, and there was a great sense of comraderie among all the fans. Hopefully, this was just the first of many victories for Italy during the tournament. Forza Italia!
