Tico Tales - Turriabla Region
Occasional Tales from our Life in Costa Rica
We recently made a weekend getaway to Costa Rica's Turrialba region. Turriabala is an agricultural town of about 30,000 people, nestled in a beautiful valley. Two nearby rivers draw white water rafters and kayakers from around the world. We were happy just to relax at Casa Turire, one of the area's nature lodges. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by sugar plantations and green hills. Sophie was disappointed that the nearby Turriabla and Irazu volcanoes were shrouded by clouds all weekend, but she was very happy swimming in the pool and exploring the hotel's gorgeous grounds.
