Mexico City (June 8-11)
Jason was in Mexico City recently for work. It was a great chance to see sights in the ancient capital city of the Aztecs.

The Palacio de Bellas Artes in the Historic Center

Torre Latinoamericana, one Latin America's original skyscrapers

Jason with the Costa Rica delegation in La Plaza de la Constitución (a.k.a. El Zócalo)

The Cathedral Metropolitana, which is sinking over time in the soft soil of Mexico City

Side view of the Cathedral

The National Palace in El Zócalo

Architecture of the Historic Center

Jason with members of the delegations from Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua

Dinner at Los Mariachis Restaurant in the Zona Rosa

Entrance to the National Anthropology Museum, which has an incredible collection of Aztec and other Pre-Columbian artifacts

The courtyard of the museum with its famous "umbrella"

The column of the "umbrella"
The museum has too many great artifacts to show here, so let's just sum it all up with the Aztec Sun Stone, which was discovered under Mexico City's main plaza, El Zócalo, in 1790.

The Aztec sun stone, Stone of the Sun, or Aztec calendar stone.

Chapultepec Castle is one of the many landmarks in the 1,600 acre Chapultepec Park, Mexico City's main urban park

Monument to Los Niños Héroes at the entrance to Chapultepec Park

El Ángel de la Independencia ("The Angel of Independence") on Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City's grandest avenue

Saludos de Mexico...
