Tico Tales- Happy Annexation Day!
Occasional Tales from our Life in Costa Rica
Friday, July 25, 2008 was the 184th anniversary of the day that the Nicoya Province voted to secede from Nicaragua and join Costa Rica. This was a major score for Costa Rica since the Nicoya Province includes some really great beaches. (And probably for other reasons, too.) Sophie's school marked the day with the children wearing traditional costumes and eating typical foods. Sophie loved wearing her dress.

By the way, check out the Catanzaro family blog (listed under links along right margin) to see photos from their recent trip to Costa Rica (which we plan to chronicle ourselves on this very page in the near future).
